The Director of Menu Strategy & Innovation will lead short and long-term menu strategies including a new product and LTO pipeline that successfully meets evolving guest needs and Freddy’s business objectives.  This position will partner with cross functional teams, vendors and agencies to bring new data and insight-led products to life through leadership of innovation processes and product testing. 

 

 

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Lead Freddy’s menu evolution and strategy, pipeline development and validation.
  • Develop, gain alignment to, and lead a guest and insight-driven innovation pipeline to deliver strategic objectives.
  • Cultivate an in-depth understanding of Freddy’s target guests and taste and profile preferences.
  • Drive menu insights, trends and competitive menu intelligence to determine culinary implications and recommend strategic and tactical responses.
  • Develop strategies and innovative solutions, with focus on guest and business impact.
  • Results-focused leader that successfully manages long-term vision with short-term in-market execution.
  • Consistently deliver trend and insight-led innovative thinking and ideation surrounding Freddy’s menu offering – both permanent and LTO items.
  • Lead cross-functional efforts to bring ideas to life. This includes product testing and partnership with operations, training, marketing and supply chain.
  • Measure impact of menu changes to the business and determines measures of success.
  • Lead culinary agency and vendor partnerships to conduct innovation sessions and explore new opportunities.
  • Refine and manage innovation processes from ideation to execution that optimize costs and speed to market.
  • Plan and synthesize all new product research such as concept screening, product focus groups, sensory testing and ad-hoc research as needed and assure proper/relevant cross-functional communication of insights/learnings.
  • Partner with Brand Marketing to drive recommendations for new product testing and national marketing calendar integration.
  • Present to Franchisees and Custard Council members menu strategy and new product launches/results.

 

Desired Skills & Proficiencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Culinary Science or related field.
  • Minimum seven years relevant work experience with five years minimum experience in menu management and culinary development, preferably within the chain restaurant industry.
  • Experience in developing and managing a product pipeline.
  • Self-proclaimed ‘foodie’ with a passion for food, and culinary innovation.
  • Strategic self-starter, with experience in building and executing menu, marketing or brand strategies.
  • Strong project management skills
  • Excellent people skills and the ability to build and maintain positive, supportive working relationships.
  • Ability to understand and mine consumer data to translate to core insights and opportunity areas.
  • Experience in analyzing product performance and SKU or category management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and project management platforms.
