This is a key management position that is responsible for managing the public relations department and the content it delivers. Ensures brand message is consistent, timely, and relevant.

Essential Functions

  • Collaborate with marketing and digital hospitality to design concepts for print and digital applications while following existing brand standards, creative concepts and templates
  • Direct and implement the company's public relations strategies
  • Ensure communication strategy is consistent and reflects the company’s strategic vision
  • Manage media relations, announcements, editorial placement, and speaking opportunities
  • Develop press releases, white papers and supporting materials
  • Evaluate and authorize all forms of communication regarding the company for release to the public
  • Field media questions, prepare media kits and organize media events
  • Act as business representative during industry events
  • Research public opinion and communicate with management to enhance the company’s image in the business communities in which it operates
  • Inform management on market trends, calculate communications budgets, arrange interviews, and prepare speeches
  • Collaborate with marketing and social media teams to ensure advertising campaigns are in line with the company's image and goals
  • Release information to counter negative publicity; handle crisis and emergency communications
  • Produce and publish mass communications with email blasts and marketing campaigns
  • Refine core messaging to ensure organizational consistency in all aspects of communication
  • Ensure consistent framing of messages
  • Advocate on behalf of the company brand with the media across all communications channels and vehicles

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations or related field
  • Minimum of five years of experience in public relations
  • Minimum of three years of management experience
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must possess excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Have a full understanding of media needs and media relationships
  • Be proactive, reliable, responsible and accurate with an attention to detail
  • Possess the ability to keep information confidential
  • Self-motivated with a positive, professional and collaborative approach to managing and mentoring a team
  • Excels under pressure; ability to work both independently and cooperatively
  • Flexibility to work hours outside of normal business hours to meet the needs of the business
