Our Coronavirus Response

Reopening our Dining Rooms

 April 29, 2020

As states and local municipalities begin to ease restrictions, we will gradually reopen our dining rooms with increased safety measures and operational adjustments.  We’re taking several steps in support of our Team Members and Guests including pre-shift health reminders, limited occupancy, socially distanced seating, cashier sneeze guards, booth extenders, and more. We encourage Guests to observe social distancing and remain six feet apart while dining at Freddy’s. We will continue monitoring this situation and will make adjustments as needed for the health and well-being of our Team Members and Guests. Your favorite menu items are also available through carry-out, drive-thru, and DoorDash delivery. Check with your local Freddy’s for details.

Frequently Asked Questions

Updated: May 21, 2020

What is Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers doing to keep Guests safe when they visit our restaurants?

Freddy’s Team Members are required to follow a strict set of food-handling and other food-safety rules outlined in the national food code. These rules have been in place for years and are always being updated for the safety of our Guests.

With the spread of COVID-19, our teams have implemented further measures as recommended by the CDC and National Restaurant Association. These include increased frequency for hand washing, dedicated cash handlers, and increased disinfection of contact surfaces.  Please visit the CDC website for additional information regarding food safety and COVID-19.

Are Freddy’s dining rooms closed?

What is Freddy’s doing to support our Team Members?

The health and safety of our team is a top priority. We’re asking Team Members to stay home if they’re sick or showing symptoms of COVID-19, and we’re providing resources to make that possible. You may see Team Members wear gloves when collecting payment as an additional precaution to them.

Do Freddy’s Team Members wear gloves?

Foodservice & Prep: Freddy’s Team Members are required to follow strict food-handling guidelines which include increased frequency for handwashing, wearing gloves when handling food, and washing hands when changing gloves or tasks.

Cash Handling: Gloves may also be worn when collecting payment as an additional precaution for the safety of our Team Members.

With the spread of COVID-19, our teams have implemented additional measures as recommended by the CDC and National Restaurant Association.  These include increased frequency for hand washing, dedicated cash handlers, and increased disinfection of contact surfaces. The CDC says gloves are not a substitute for hand hygiene and are not enough to prevent illness.  As advised by the CDC, we trust that our Guests are following their own hand hygiene measures when interacting with others.

Do Freddy’s Team Members wear masks?

Based on guidelines from the CDC, Freddy’s Team Members are required to wear non-medical cloth face coverings at work.  We continue to closely monitor developing guidance from the CDC while complying with state and local regulations and mandates regarding restaurant operations.

Our teams are trained in food safety and sanitation practices. Should concerns arise over the potential contamination of any product, our teams are trained to discard the food and to sanitize potentially contaminated surfaces or utensils.

COVID-19 Updates

March 18, 2020

As our nation and the world rally to slow the spread of COVID-19, Freddy’s remains committed to the health and well-being of our Team Members and Guests. Beginning Wednesday, March 18, we will close our dining rooms at corporate-owned locations, focusing all Team Member activity on the quality, accuracy, and speed of our drive-thru, to serve you The Freddy’s Way. Our two corporate locations without drive-thru service will offer carry-out service only.

While understanding the needs of their local communities, a large number of our franchisees and operators have already chosen to follow the guidance of the CDC and local health officials by closing their dining areas, and we encourage all franchisees to adopt similar operational procedures at this time. Please be patient with our teams as they manage through these unique times. Hours may fluctuate and delivery remains available in select areas, so please check with your local Freddy’s to confirm today’s hours of operation.

March 16, 2020

Freddy’s is working to protect the health and well-being of our Team Members, while safely serving our Guests in a clean and hospitable environment. Recognizing that this is a fast-moving situation, we are closely following the guidance of the CDC and local health officials. We are in on-going discussions with our local owners and operators as we modify various aspects of our operations. In locations where dining rooms are closed, additional Team Member support is focused on the quality, accuracy and speed of drive-thru and carry-out orders. This may also mean hours will be changing, so please check with your local Freddy’s to confirm today’s hours of operation.

A Note to Our Guests

March 13, 2020

At Freddy’s, we have always been focused on 3 pillars: Quality, Hospitality, and Cleanliness. Those pillars have always guided our culture, and Freddy’s has made food safety and the well-being of our Team Members and Guests our first priority.

As we all continue to prepare for or deal with the impact of the coronavirus, I want you to know that Freddy’s is committed to your safety and keeping our Team Members, Guests, and restaurants safe.

We are actively monitoring the communities in which we operate as well as each of our restaurants. In addition, we are making decisions with health and safety at top of mind. Our restaurants and drive-thrus are open and we are working hard to keep Freddy’s products you love available.

As the situation has evolved we have been reviewing our procedures and our restaurants have enhanced our sanitizing and disinfecting procedures to maintain a healthy environment for our Guests and Team Members. Internally, we have further emphasized our policy that Team Members who are not feeling well must stay home. In addition, all franchise restaurants have been equipped with recommended procedures to follow if someone from their restaurant becomes impacted by the virus.

We will communicate updates locally as required in the event we need to take other preventative measures to ensure the safety of Team Members and Guests.

Freddy’s is committed to the communities we serve and we will be working hard to support each other while still providing quality food in a clean and hospitable environment.
