So, what is the hype about Hatch chiles?
The special chiles are grown in Hatch, New Mexico (hence, the name) and are only in season for a few weeks every year—making them a hot commodity. The highly sought chile peppers come in several varieties, from mild to hot. Roasting them prior to eating or freezing is recommended. Once frozen, they can last up to 18 months.
Not only are they delicious, but they contain high amounts of Vitamin C among other important nutrients. Vitamin C is great for the good ol’ immune system—so eat up! Seasoned chile users add them to soups, breads, salads, burgers & cheeseburgers, dips and even in ice cream & desserts (among other mouthwatering dishes)!
